I have been asking how you make a unique St Patrick's Day present for my college student that reminds her of home and mom—drawing from my California roots, where See's Chocolate originated in 1921. See's holds a special place in your heart with its chocolate potatoes from my childhood, and I am incorporating this iconic treat into the holiday celebration of my family and friends with this personalized touch of nostalgia.
But as a mom, I have always tried to send hugs through the miles and share my West Coast roots while living on the East Coast. I, of course, will be adding other things to my gift bag for my college girl, but See's Chocolate Potatoes will be the centerpiece, and she will enjoy sharing them with her friends and telling them about her mom.
This year, Saint Patrick's Day falls on a weekend, so hopefully, my care package will be appreciated by my daughter and her friends and be used in a responsible manner. Maybe not, especially since they are 3rd-year students over the age of 21, but at least they should enjoy the treats, whether used on a bar crawl or a quiet night in their apartment.
