I was particularly taken by this year's United Nations World Parents Day theme, Parents Are Beacons.
The theme changes each year for World Parents Day, and of course, the theme is highly aspirational. As with most ideas coming out of the United Nations, aspirational positivity. World Society definitely needs to celebrate the idea of Parenting. The United States has there own Parents' Day, created by Congress in 1984. Parents Day in the United States has several acknowledgments beyond a website or two.
I could see Parents' Day as a gender-neutral and fair way to celebrate those fantastic, caring adults who stood up and brought us inspiration and direction to our lives. Will this come to be? Who knows? I would like to share the detail and some facts from National Parents’ Day: July 24, 2022 (census.gov)
So as we go forward to the more well-publicized holidays to honor our loved ones Mother's Day and Father's Day.
